Lazy Days

Man, can I just say that I feel like such a bum lately? While I understand it's important to get my rest, and keep my foot up, the act of doing it day in and day out is really getting under my skin. I feel like the lazy person I used to be; at least this time I'm equipped with some nutritional knowledge to help me pull through the slump.

I've done pretty good considering. Normally, I would take some time on the weekend, or one weeknight where I would do a bunch of cooking at once, usually chicken breasts, which once cooled I would slice up and individually package and place in the freezer/fridge for convenient eating. I also cut up fruits and veggies so it's easy to pack into my lunch box for snacks and lunch.

Well, I've run out of my stash, and since being on crutches doesn't particularly yield well for standing in the kitchen and doing prep work, I've been flying by the seat of my pants, with the help of my hubby.

My meals have definitely been lack-lustre, but they've still stuck to be mostly true, although for some reason, my lack of preplanning has also somehow resulted in my lack of recording what I've been eating for the last couple of days... probably because I haven't had my little orange book sprawled open in search of what to eat!

So I've been mostly eating salads with chicken, cottage cheese, fruits, veggies and shakes, and cheese. Oh and I had a cheat day this weekend, on Saturday I have a sausage on a bun and a cake pop. Now the cake pop was delicious, and the sausage was okay, but boy do I ever notice how salty things are now that I've cut most of it out!

At least the scale has been kind to me, and I've maintained my wait since I've stopped cardio. Although I'm seriously itching to get back! I've been slowly limping around a few steps here, and a few steps there without my boot, putting most of my weight on my heel and instep... I tried with the boot and was met with some pretty terrible pain, so I should probably take it a little slower... but as soon as I can put a little more pressure, I'm going to have my go at the recumbent bike!

For now, I've been searching for alternative healthy meals, trying to infuse some more flavour into my meals, learn how to use more spices, and how to tweak normal recipes to be lower in salt, sugar and to be overal healthier.
