Well, it's a few weeks delayed.. but this is a journey to a new, healthier me. A lot of people blog and I enjoy reading them. I don't expect a lot of people to read this.. in fact I'm not even sure I'm going to share my link with anyone yet. I guess I'd sort of like to use this as more of a diary, and something to look back on if you will.
I'm tall, and I've always been on the thinner side; I was actually probably underweight in elementary/highschool... but for some reason I still hated my body. In College I thought I was fat (What the heck was wrong with me!? I'd kill to look like that now!) and that was about 6 years ago. I'm not quite sure when the switch happened, but I just gradually put on weight, my heighest weight before I got pregnant was about 180lbs; then I lost a bunch of it, I was down to about 165lbs....
During my pregnancy I put on 55lbs, and since then I've been struggling to lose it. While I lost a lot during the first 5 or 6 months, breastfeeding certainly helped me out, I had been hovering around 190lbs for the last year and a half. I've been fed up with myself a couple times, and managed to drop 5lbs, but I would always fall off the band wagon and go right back to where I started.
It wasn't until a very dear friend of mine started her own weightloss journey, and chronicled those events in a blog found here, and on facebook that I started to think about myself.. I figured if she can do it, than I can do it and she seems to have found a very great group of supportive women to help her along the way.. I decided it wouldn't hurt to ask her about it, and the people and what she's been doing. (You can read all about what she's doing in her blog, but to sum it up, it's an intense 12 week challenge, consisting of personal training, a nutritionist, and some bootcamp)
Due to timing I couldn't join the bootcamp right away, but I had already started the ball rolling by messaging Sandra Compton (the individual who runs the bootcamp, and a huge impact in Crystal's journey) who kicked it into high gear by providing my contact info to Lisa. I signed up for 24 sessions with her, and go twice a week for 3 months. Lisa is a God Send, and has provided me with a wealth of knowledge for strength training, cardio and nutrition.... and there started my journey, I'm a month into training and I can already see results.
